Game #3

Game #3 was tonight. Renn's team won again 13-7. His team is now 3-0. The boys played a great game. They are playing each game better and better. Papa and grandma even came out to the game to see Renn play. Zayvn's favorite thing to do is to go to the snack bar and talk to the ladies in there. Eventually they think he's too cute or just a bother so they give him a bag of popcorn!! Next week we start two games a week so it will be busy for the next month. It's good though!!

Transparent

So I'm sitting in the middle of service tonight listening to a missionary talk about his work in India. Amazing what he and his wife are doing for those young girls that have been sold into prostitution. Building schools so they have some hope. I hear the Lord start speaking to me about my anger and bitterness. Anger? Bitterness? Me? That was like a slap in the face. I didn't think that I was dealing with any of that but as I sat there and thought about it I realized that I did have those feelings. Angry at the circumstances that have happened the last year and half within my church. Angry that I don't have children that act like they are suppose to when they are suppose to. (who says there is a certain way to act? Am I just being too hard on them? Expect too much?) Angry that I don't feel like I'm the best mom. Angry that I'm so far away from home that I can't be with my mom when she has knee surgery. Angry that I feel overwhelmed at times and should be able to handle things without freaking out. Angry period. Angry, Angry, Angry. Anger then seethes into bitterness. I don't want to be bitter towards my children, my husband, my church, my family, to those around me. I want to be filled with joy and happiness. Joy and happiness which the Lord has so much of. I haven't been in the word like I should be. If I was in the word I wouldn't let the enemy feed into the anger and bitterness. We are to hide God's word in our heart so that we may not sin against God. Anger and Bitterness? That is sin. Period. Sin is sin no matter which way you look at it. I don't want to be filled with sin. I want to be filled with the word. So, as I sat there and thought about these things I asked the Lord to forgive me. To help me become a better woman of God, filled with the word and joy and happiness. To become a better mom and relax just a tad. As I asked the Lord to forgive me the immense peace that I had was so overwhelming. Peace that, as long as I remain steadfast in God's word, He will work everything out. Peace over my children, Peace over my church, Peace over my mom, Peace over my friends. I am reminded of something that the missionary said tonight. There are two things to always remember: Never lose your sense of humor and never take yourself more seriously than you ought.

Game #2

Baseball again tonight. Renn's team won again 13-3. The boys did a great job and played well. Renn pitched a bit tonight, played 1st and 3rd base. I wish I would have gotten a picture of him as he slid into home belly first! He was covered chin down in complete dirt! He was so proud!! I love watching him play and love to see him rooting on his team mates. He's learning even more this year and good sportmanship is showing much improvement as well. Can you tell this mom is proud?!!

Over The Top

Kev, the boys and I went for a bike ride tonight. Our plan was to ride to the new ice cream shop in Pleasant Hill, Over The Top. Boy, what a bike ride that was. If you know where we live then you know we live amongst hills. Lots of hills. Wherever you go your either going up hill or down. For someone who hasn't rode her bike in over two years those were some pretty tough hills. Don't get me wrong. I ride the bike at the campus but I can be in charge if I want to go up hills or not. This particular ride I couldn't be in charge of the hills, they were in charge of me!! We made it to the ice cream shop but not before many stops. Not just for me but for Zayvn as well. His little legs couldn't pump the bike fast enough to get up the hills. So he would walk his bike and I would take my AHA! moment and walk with him!! What we thought was going to be an easy ride ended up taking about 45 minutes. Once we got to our destination Kev rode back to the house, picked up the van and drove back to the ice cream place. We put the bikes in the van and had a nice, easy ride home!! Hmmm.....I might have to just get Over The Top of the hills on my street before I do anymore riding through town!

1st Baseball Game

Renn's team, Four Mile Gold, won tonight 6-2. Renn pitched most of the game and we were so proud of him. He said to me on the way home "Mom, I did it for the team!" What a growing boy I have!

Pictures from Renn's Birthday

We started the day with a pancake breakfast for Renn's Little League. Pictures for the teams were next. We then headed home and waited for dad to get off work. Renn's buddy Alex showed up and we headed to the skating rink. The boys skated, had pizza, played games, ate cake and skated some more. The DJ had Renn come up to the sound booth area to sing Happy Birthday. After skating we let Renn choose where he wanted to eat for dinner so we headed to Ryans (a buffet, which is his favorite place to go). Zayvn asked the waitress to sing to his brother so she went and got some of the other workers to help her sing. What a great day!!

Double Digits

In the year 2000 here's some facts that were going on in the world:

  • Presidents of North and South Korea sign peace accord, and at least symbolically, end a half-century of antagonism
  • Concorde crash kills 113 near Paris
  • U.S. presidential election closest in decades; Bush's slim lead in Florida leads to automatic recount in that state (Nov. 7-8).
  • Federal debt: $5,674.2 billion
  • Cost of a first-class stamp: $0.34
  • Super BowlSt. Louis d. Tennessee (23-16)
  • World SeriesNY Yankees d. NY Mets (4-1)
  • Charles Schulz, the cartoonist who created the "Peanuts" comic strip, dies in his sleep after a battle with colon cancer.
  • Richard Hatch, the overweight "Island Machiavelli," outwits and outlasts the other Survivor cast members and walks off the island in the South China Sea with $1 million.
  • Abortion pill, RU-486, wins U.S. approval (Sept. 28).
  • "I love you" virus disrupts computers worldwide (May 14).

All of these facts were important this year but there's one that stands out the most....the birth of my firstborn son Renn today April 10th. Unlike most people we didn't bring him home until a month after his birth due to some legalities with his adoption. What a joy that day was when Kev and I walked into the foster care home and saw this amazing baby boy. So handsome and small!! What a joy he's been the last 10 years. He's grown up to be such a handsome boy. Yes, there's moments where I just want to wring his neck (did I say that?) but I wouldn't trade him in for anything. Everyday is just a little bit more where I see him maturing into a young man. There's so many things I love about him:

  • The hugs when I least expect them
  • His silly sense of humor
  • His ability to play baseball with amazing skills
  • He loves to help cook!
  • He still asks for Kev and I to come pray with him at night.
  • He loves Jesus

I am proud of him. In just 8 years he will graduate. I look forward to cherishing every minute of each year with him. Time goes by way too fast.

Happy Birthday Renn!! Love you bunches!!
