As I sit here tonight writing this my precious grandma Sigrid's journey on this earth is slowly coming to an end. She has lived such a long life, 96, to be exact. The last 8 years she has lived alone, missing my grandfather who passed just a month after we adopted Zayvn. Soon, she will be reunited with him in Heaven. She has missed him so much! My grandma's journey on this earth has not always been easy. She didn't always make the right choices. There were many mistakes she made. She didn't always say the right things. We all make mistakes and say wrong things at times though, don't we? The one thing she did though was pray for me. Pray that I would have a life filled with the wonderful beauty of the Lord. She was the one person I could count on to pray for me when I needed it. I will miss our talks. I could tell her anything knowing she would keep it to herself and not share with anyone. My mind is filled with memories of younger days as I sat at her kitchen table playing Uno or Rumikub, two of her favorite games. Laughing, joking, sharing. Weeks, upon weeks, in the summer where I stayed with her. I loved her company. I loved spending time with her in the kitchen as she cooked. I am grateful for those memories as I will carry those with me these next few days. I know she is going 'home' however death is never easy. The pain of losing a loved one hurts. I will miss her terribly. I will miss hearing her voice. I will miss her smile. I will miss our talks. My heart will hurt for a while and eventually the pain will subside. Grateful though for the memories she and I created together. Thank you for being such a wonderful grandma. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Bye Grandma, I love you....
